I remember being oh…..about 5 or so…. holding my periwinkle blue crayon in one hand and a pad of paper in the other. I was still in my Casper costume from Halloween that year (even though Halloween had already passed by that point – or so I’ve been told- ahem). I remember all of this vividly, because I sat in our Victorian Playhouse out back my father had built for my sister and I. Opening the door, turning on the light I found my favorite spot by the window. A child-sized table and chair which I used quite a bit as my writing desk. I could look out the window and watch for my older sister who could be quite the terror. I had hiding places for all things sacred so that I might keep them undiscovered from her. I hid my most cherished books, rocks and my first journals. I knew then that I wanted to be a writer. I adored books even at that young age.
“I read therefore I am.”
Blogs are a wonderful way for people who fancy themselves the writer sort to share their content. You can basically write about any ‘ol thing on your blog. It’s an online diary so to speak. What you do with that and how you spread your little world to others is up to you. Choose wisely I say. People will spout ‘I have free speech and can and will share my thoughts and feelings and my spin on everyone who has entered my life – past and present.- and ‘boo rah rah’ if it hurts them or seems disrespectful. Well now. This is probably where one might say ‘a little self-absorbed – aren’t we? ‘ I suppose some feel it’s all about them. Sniffing their armpits and what-not (that’s from the movie Super Star in case you’re wondering if I’ve lost my mind with the sniffing of the arm pits comment — sort of gross I know but it is quite applicable here I think :::wrinkling nose and smiling::::::).
I always go back to — ‘If we were all the same oh how very boring it would be’. It takes all kinds of people to make our wonderful magical world go round. Even those who may not be as bright and shiny as you would like. It’s not all about YOU now is it. I can completely take that into my own consideration as well. It’s not all about ME either. When we stop learning, we stop growing.
I say of this of course to let people know – write. Whatever the heck it is just do it. It may filter in to someone’s being and touch, change or alter them. You just never know about that all powerful written word. However if you have to write at EXPENSE of someone else — then you’re not very good at what you do – my opinion of course.
